---)))look after you(((---
if i don't say this now
i will surely break
as i'm leaving the one
i want to take
forgive the urgency but
hurry up and wait
my heart has started to separate
quote.of.the.day
nothing you do for children is ever wasted. they seem not to notice us, hovering, averting our eyes, and they seldom offer thanks, but what we do for them is never wasted. ~garrison keillor
gratitude X 3
***elias, for waking up for a few brief seconds, looking at me, and smiling his happiest, toothiest, wrinkliest nosed smile, before falling back to sleep. he's 100% pure honest love. i want to keep trying, to give him the life he deserves.
***the invention of lying, it made me LOL for the first time in a long time and mean it. it started out great and the ending fizzled, but it reminded me that if something makes me laugh and smile no matter the end it was worth it.
***laurie, who always says hi first and doesn't let me isolate... for the cake and the balloons, for always calling me on my sh** but not holding it against me, and changing the subject and not letting me lament even when i really want to.
elias.story,1
elias is just about 23 months old and he still doesn't do a whole lot of talking. he has learned "kay-koo" (translation: thank you). whenever i give him a cup of juice or his blanket i make a point to say "thank you". for the longest time, i didn't think he 'got it', because he would, in turn, bring me something while saying "kay-koo". he seemed to think it was something someone says when giving, not receiving. so i started saying "thank you, sarah" when i'd give him something, since he knows i'm 'sarah'. figured i was just confusing the poor fellow. until the other day...
i was sitting at my computer when elias walked over to me and handed me one of his toys and said his usual "kay-koo". i figured he was just bored with the toy so i set in on my computer desk and continued with what i was doing. elias proceeded to turn my chair (damn swivel chair) so that i was facing him and he goes, "kay-koo, kay-KOO, KAY-KOO!!!!" apparently, he was quite offended that i didn't appreciate the offering. i said "THANK YOU!" and he burst out laughing, hopping on my lap and hugging me.
so yeah, he totally gets it. and even if he brings me something i didn't ask for, i must never again fail to thank him profusely.
maybe you had to be there.
